CASE DETAILS
Well proportioned quarter sawn oak case with flat top, side windows to hood, polished cast brass capitals to "pillars attached" hood door, long trunk door and strip base. Of very good "honey" colour and patination.
DIAL DETAILS
12" square brass dial with rococo spandrels, engraved and silvered dial centre, engraved subsidiary seconds dial and square date box. Charles Raymond engraved to upper dial centre and filled with black wax with Lideway engraved to lower dial centre and filled with red wax.The use of 2 colour wax is typical of the maker.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality, 8 day, 4 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.
MAKER DETAILS
Charles Raymond of Lideway also seen spelt Lydeway.An example of his work in Devizes museum.He was christened 20th December 1741 and buried in 1823.
