CASE DETAILS
Good quality, long door, quarter sawn oak case with burrwood (walnut ?) crossbanding . The breakarch top with fretted and pierced detail under. Brass capped "flying" hood columns, trunk door with shaped top, base set on shallow bracket feet.
DIAL DETAILS
13" wheatear edge engraved breakarch brass dial with penny moon to arch, finely matted centre, ringed winding holes, urn spandrels, subsidiary seconds dial and square date box. Blued cut steel hands.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality, 8 day, movement with 4 knopped, finned and ringed pillars. Hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.Well made with good attention to detail.
MAKER DETAILS
Joseph Swinnerton ( no placename ) has been researched and all movements so far seen have been well above average for quality and complication. Stylistically the clock is "Northern."
