CASE DETAILS
12" breakarch "Osborne" painted dial with moonphases to arch, raised gilt gesso corner spandrel borders enclosing scroll flanked flower vignettes. The moonphase disc is particularly interesting showing a man o' war to one detail and a well executed full length portrait of a Georgian military officer to the other. Roman chapters with "minutes numbered" outers, subsidiary seconds dial and "sad mouth" date aperture. Blued cut steel hands.

MAKER DETAILS
John Allifon ( Allison ) of Montrose ( Scotland ) is recorded "High Street, Montrose 1798 - 1822" and also "Late 18C."
DATE - Circa 1805.
It is interesting to note that the dial maker ( Osborne of Birmingham) is recorded 1780 - 1808 so we may date the clock fairly accurately as circa 1805 which exactly ties in, stylistically.
