Good, quarter sawn oak case with spire/ball centred swan neck pediment, repousse "lions head" paterae, brass capped fluted "flying" hood columns with matching trunk quarter columns, matching shell inlays to trunk door and canted panelled base, mahogany crossbanding and details. Plain strip plinth.

13" breakarch late "Wilson" dial with flat gilt borders enclosing flower painted spandrels, large Arabic chapters with smaller Arabic outers, moonphases to arch, subsidiary seconds dial, and "sad mouth" date aperture.

Signed William Hartshorne Broseley to "ribbon" on lower part of dial. Pair of exotic, colourful birds "perched" at extremities of ribbon. N.B. James Wilson, dialmaker recorded 11, Great Charles Street, Birmingham 1780 - 1808.Interestingly his 13" breakarch landscape painted dials cost 16s but with moonphases £1- 2s -0d. He died 3rd April 1809. Blued cut steel hands.

Good quality, 4 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.

William Hartshorne of Broseley ( just South of Ironbridge, Shropshire ) .Recorded, apprenticed to John Baddeley, Clockmaker, Albrighton, Salop, 2nd February 1783 for 7 years at a premium of £12.

It is interesting to note that the dial maker ( Osborne of Birmingham) is recorded 1780 - 1808 so we may date the clock fairly accurately as circa 1805 which exactly ties in, stylistically.
