12" square brass dial with penny moon to engraved and silvered dial centre, typical large cherubs head cast brass spandrels, large date lunette and blued cut steel hands.Engraved Dav.d Collier Gatley to dial centre.

Well executed 4 pillar, 8 day, movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.

David Collier of Gatley ( Gatley Green ) now subsumed by Greater Manchester.Recorded born about 1721/1722, apprenticed to John Shepley of Stockport in 1736, worked in Gatley Green from about 1750 - 1762, died in Eccles 1792.Very similar example in Staircase House Museum, Stockport ( also supplied by me ) see LCOAK 241 in Archive section 2003 - 2006. Another good example by him, again circa 1760, LCOAK 259 in Archive section 2007 +. I very much like his work which is always of high quality.

It is interesting to note that the dial maker ( Osborne of Birmingham) is recorded 1780 - 1808 so we may date the clock fairly accurately as circa 1805 which exactly ties in, stylistically.
