CASE DETAILS

Small, neat, long door, quarter sawn, oak case with "pillars attached" hood door and pierced frieze under flat top hood. Side windows to hood. Good warm colour and patination. Plain strip plinth.

DIAL DETAILS

12" square brass dial with exquisitely engraved and silvered subsidiary seconds dial, centre zone, chapter ring and silvered date ring. Cast brass rococo spandrels.Blued cut steel hands.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

Typical Avenell family high quality, 5 pillar, weight driven movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.Typical Avenell high quality brass strip pendulum.

Philp. ( Philip ) Avenell of Farnham recorded - a single date - 1765.Part of the highly regarded Avenell family who made clocks to unfailingly excellent standards throughout Hampshire for over two centuries.Please see LCMAH 247 in Archive section 2003 - 2006 and LCMAH 300 and 306 on current site.
