The typical box backed swan neck pediment having carved, gilded, wooden paterae, verre eglomise panels under, ogee section hood door flanked by Corinthian capped fluted columns with matching fluted trunk quarter columns.
Shaped top to trunk door, raised quarter sawn oak base panel with canted corners to base.All set on ogee bracket feet.
DIAL DETAILS
13" breakarch brass dial with "Samuel Harley Salop" to top of arch, moonphases under, cast brass spandrels, raised silvered chapter ring having date calibrated inner,silvered and engraved centre zone with subsidiary seconds dial, blued cut steel hands and brass tipped blued cut steel date indicator.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality 8 day, 4 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.
MAKER DETAILS
Samuel Harley of Salop is recorded "Shrewsbury, 1766 - 1799. Became Mayor in 1784, Burgess 1795." Also known as a goldsmith.
