A well proportioned , early 19C mahogany crossbanded oak, 8 day longcase by H. (Harry) Watts of Poole.

CASE DETAILS

Slender Mahogany crossbanded Oak case with swan neck pediment and single eagle ball finial. N.B. The oak is quarter sawn giving a "golden feathers" effect to the grain.

DIAL DETAILS

12" square painted dial with fruit laden cornucopiae to corner decorations. Subsidiary seconds dial, "sad mouth" date aperture.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

8 day hourly (rack) striking on a single bell.

MAKER DETAILS

H. (Harry) Watts of Poole recorded 1824-30.

DATE - Circa 1825.

HEIGHT - 84" (214cms.) or 82" (208 cms.) ex finial.
