Unusually small, though typically classic "London," long door, flame mahogany case with breakarch top, side windows to hood, brass insert fluted hood columns with matching trunk quarter columns. Panelled base. The whole set on typical "London" two step plinth, the lower shaped.

12" breakarch brass dial with strike/silent facility to arch, cast brass spandrels, raised, silvered chapter ring, finely matted dial centre, recessed silvered subsidiary seconds disc and conventional date box above the 6 o'clock position. Blued, cut steel hands, the minute serpentine, "double brass" pendulum bob and brass bound weights. Signed to a silvered plaque below the dial centre.

Well executed, high quality 5 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.

James Green of London is recorded working in Fenchurch Street, he was apprenticed 1722, Clockmakers Company 1760 - 1804, Master of the Clockmakers Company 1784 ( about the time he made this clock ).

Known in Philpot Lane, 1787. Appointed by Act of 1761 to examine the world famous Harrison's timepiece - so obviously a well respected maker of his day.
