High quality, Chippendale influenced flame mahogany case with "Chinese Chippendale" frets and carved details from Chippendale's "Director".

DIAL DETAILS

12" breakarch brass dial with rare globe moon to arch with age of moon aperture below, finely matted dial centre, subsidiary seconds dial, strike/silent control at the 3 o'clock position, Chinese Chippendale style rococo spandrels, square box date aperture above the six o' clock position.Blued cut steel hands.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

High quality 8 day movement with 4 knopped pillars having restrained decoration. Well executed drive to the globe moon. Hourly ( rack ) striking

MAKER DETAILS

Joseph Wood is recorded "worked in Scarborough, Yorkshire, about 1760 to about 1790".

DATE - Circa 1770.
