| Case | The typical, early 18C, Portsmouth/Gosport area, high quality, long door, figured and crossbanded, walnut case with triple eagle/ball finial mounted substantial "overhanging" breakarch top moulding and distinctive shallow breakarch top to the trunk door. A classic early example of the region. Side windows to hood. | |
| Dial | 12" breakarch brass dial with wheatear edge engraving extending into the arch which features a LARGE, finely engraved sector depicting day of the week, God for that day, and deity symbol.A rare and well executed feature. The silvered chapter ring with "tethered" half hour markers and flanked by cast brass spandrels. The finely matted dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial, square date box and blued cut steel hands. N.B. The standard of engraving - especially that of the deities shown in the arch, is of the very finest quality. | |
