W. Womersly Longcase Oak Mid 18th C

This Longcase Oak?catList=LCOAK 265, Longcase Oak's Movement - Good quality 8 day movement with 4, ringed and knopped pillars.Hourly ( inside countwheel ) striking on a single bell.Movement plates of breakarch form, vertically mounted bell, tulip shaped crutch - all very similar to work produced by the very famous Thomas Ogden also known to have been working in Halifax at this time which begs the question - was it made in the Ogden workshops, bought in by Womersly and sold under his name ? - Price: £9,750.

Title	LCOAK 265
Case	Stellar inlaid ( trunk door (2) and base (1) ) golden oak case with detachable caddy top surmounted by a single brass ball finial.Decoratively turned hood pillars attached to door.
Dial	12" square brass dial with finely matted dial centre, ringed winding holes, ringing to penny moon aperture and arc over datebox., "floating" half hour markers to chapter ring, urn spandrels and square box date aperture above the six o' clock position.Blued cut steel hands.
Movement	Good quality 8 day movement with 4, ringed and knopped pillars.Hourly ( inside countwheel ) striking on a single bell.Movement plates of breakarch form, vertically mounted bell, tulip shaped crutch - all very similar to work produced by the very famous Thomas Ogden also known to have been working in Halifax at this time which begs the question - was it made in the Ogden workshops, bought in by Womersly and sold under his name ?
Maker	Although recorded as working in Halifax 1785, this example is signed simply W.Womersly fecit which means W. Womersly made this, and, dating by style is mid 18th C.
