Case | Small, typically "Jersey," long door, mahogany case with breakarch top. Interestingly, the trunk door has a hand written sticker on the inside - Number 26 October 7th 1806 Poignand Fils Horologer & Coufevre Grand Rue St. Helier. Also, in a different hand - Mr. P.H. De La Croix and below that H.Lamery. There is also another sticker this time printed in blue which reads - Member of B.A.D.A. William C. Fox Antiques, 41, New Street, St. Helier, Jersey. Central 24466 ( presumably a telephone number ). The exact dating a rare and desirable feature.
Dial | 12" breakarch early "Wilson" painted dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials plus moonphases to arch.Blued, cut steel, hands except for the ( apparently original ) seconds hand which is in brass as a contrast. The date of 1806 ties in nicely with dates for Wilson the dialmaker, who is recorded working 1780 - 1808 ( 11, Great Charles Street, Birmingham ).
