Case | Classic, typically "London," long door, pagoda top, flame mahogany case with high quality cast and polished brass spire/ ball finials, central fret to pagoda, side frets to hood, cast and polished brass capitals and feet, to brass insert hood columns, plain hood rear quarter columns and matching brass insert trunk quarter columns all set on typical two step "London" plinth ( the lower shaped ).Typical raised panel base .
Dial | 12" breakarch brass dial with "starry sky" moonphases to arch and showing High Water at London Bridge. The moon's age shown in Arabic numerals the high water indication in Roman numerals. Matching subsidiary seconds and date dials within finely matted dial centre. Signed Tanner London to lower chapter ring. Blued, cut steel hands.
Movement | Nicely executed 4 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking and tee shaped front plate to take the geared ( constantly engaged ) moondrive work. It is interesting to note an original error when the movement was laid out - both top dial feet being drilled without allowance for their shoulders( which would have fouled the moon disc ) necessitating two extra holes slightly further out along the tee. The bottom dial feet holes being correctly drilled ( and obviously well away from the moon disc ). The extra holes could have easily been filled during restoration but it was felt best to leave them as an individual quirk of manufacture. Brass strip pendulum with "double brass" pendulum bob and brass bound weights.
