William Mason of London. A superb, typically late 18C, "London," flame mahogany, 8 day, brass dial longcase clock with relatively rare man o' war rocking ship automaton "The Royal William" to circular aperture in arch.

CASE DETAILS

Typical "London," late 18C, high quality, Cuban flame mahogany, long door case with triple spire/ball finials above pierced and fretted top. Side windows to hood, brass insert "flying" hood columns, the brass inserts repeated to the lower trunk canted corners. Typical "London" raised panel two step base, the lower shaped.

DIAL DETAILS

12" breakarch brass dial with man o'war rocking ship automaton to arch - "The Royal William." Finely matted dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial to upper and large applied decoratively engraved nameplate with date aperture, to the lower, signed Willm. ( William ) Mason London.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

High quality, 5 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking and pull hour repeat. The automaton driven via the pallet arbor.
