CASE DETAILS
Finely executed, long door, marquetry/inlaid flame mahogany case with eagle/ball centred swan neck pediment, having dentils to lower edge, cast brass paterae, Corinthian capitals to fluted hood columns. Ogee hood door mouldings, dentil decorated throat moulding, fluted trunk quarter columns, barber's pole stringing to both book match veneered trunk door and book match veneered base panel.
The swept top trunk door butted with captive "half acorn" finial located to the trunk. Marquetry details to both quarter column pedestals and to the canted corners of the shaped plinth base. A very attractive and well executed piece of craftsmanship.
DIAL DETAILS
12" breakarch brass dial with moonphases to arch, subsidiary seconds and date dials, engraved and silvered chapter ring, the engraved and silvered dial centre all flanked by cast brass rococo spandrels. Signed Ralph Clayton Marple to "rainbow" at top of arch above moon disc.Blued cut steel hands.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
High quality, 5 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking and passing half hour strike. Strike/silent facility.
