CASE DETAILS
Typical late 18C "London" high quality, light coloured, flame mahogany case having well chosen veneers, breakarch top, side windows to hood and typical "London" two step base. N.B. Please see LCMAH 348 for an almost identical clock by the same maker but with a lighter flame mahogany case
DIAL DETAILS
12" breakarch brass dial with strike/silent facility to arch, matted dial centre, recessed seconds dial with scalloped edges and "starburst centre, cast brass rococo spandrels "almost square" date box and blued cut steel hands. N.B. Please see dial of LCMAH 348 for similarities.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
High quality 5 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.
MAKER DETAILS
Richard Grove of London ( Wood Street ) recorded apprenticed in 1749 then Clockmakers Company 1760 - 1817.
DATE - Circa 1780.
