A superb, late 18C, classic "London", flame mahogany longcase clock with pagoda top, 12" breakarch brass dial, and fine 8 day movement by Dwerrihouse of Berkley Square, London, a famous maker.

CASE DETAILS

Typical classic, late 18C, high quality, "LONDON" Cuban flame mahogany case with 3 large spire/ball brass finials to pagoda topped hood, it having central red "silk" backed sound fret with brass moulded edges. Side windows to hood. Brass capped, brass insert, fluted hood columns repeated as matching trunk quarter columns. Well chosen flame veneers to trunk door and base panel. All set on typical "London" two step base.

DIAL DETAILS

12" breakarch brass dial with strike/silent facility to arch, cast brass spandrels, matted dial centre, recessed subsidiary seconds dial, square date box and blued, cut steel hands.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

High quality, well executed, 5 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking, the steel strip "double brass" pendulum with regulator style "pin and slot" connection.Brass bound weights.

MAKER DETAILS

John Dwerrihouse, ( 23, Charles Street ) Berkley Square, London. Highly rated, famous maker.Recorded "pre 1773, Clockmakers Company 1781 - 1805".
