A superbly proportioned, high quality, late 18 C, 8 day, flame mahogany, longcase clock with brass dial by Edward Whittingham of London.Typical of the "London" style of the period.

CASE DETAILS

Superbly proportioned, high quality, long door, flame mahogany case with breakarch top, side windows to hood brass insert hood columns and typical "London" two step base.

DIAL DETAILS

12" breakarch brass dial with strike/silent to arch, finely matted dial centre, subsidiary seconds dial, square date box and cast brass "feathery head" spandrels. Blued, cut steel hands.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

High quality 5 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking and strike/silent facility Brass strip pendulum with "double brass" bob and brass bound weights.

MAKER DETAILS

Edward Whittingham of London, recorded ( Oxford Street ) 1761 - 84.

DATE - Circa 1780.
