A good, small, well proportioned, long door, flame mahogany, 8 day, longcase clock having 12" square 'Finnemore & Walker' painted dial with axehead MOON and swan neck pediment by Sam Hulbert of Marshfield ( Gloucestershire ) circa 1810. Now sold.

CASE DETAILS

Good, small, well proportioned, long door, flame mahogany case with brass ball centred swan neck pediment having Greek key pattern under, extending to both sides.Shaped backsplats, brass Corinthian capitals to plain hood columns.

DIAL DETAILS

12" square 'Walker & Finnemore' painted dial with 'axehead' moon to upper dial centre, wavy Arabic numerals, rose centred painted corner spandrels, "sad mouth" date aperture, signed to lower dial centre Sam.l ( Samuel ) Hulbert Marshfield. Polished cut brass hands. N.B. Walker & Finnemore are recorded 1808 - 1811.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

Good quality, 4 pillar, 8 day, hourly ( rack ) striking.

MAKER DETAILS

Sam.l ( Samuel ) Hulbert of Marshfield is recorded 1776 - 1826.

DATE - This clock may be accurately dated to circa 1810 as the dialmakers - Walker & Finnemore are recorded 1808 -1811.

HEIGHT - 81.8" ( 208 cms. ) or 81.5" ( 207 cms. )
