CASE DETAILS
Good quality, solid mahogany, long door, case with dentil mouldings under breakarch top and having typical West Country keystone centred pierced work under ( continuing to both sides of hood ) with polished brass capitals and feet to hood columns" repeated to the rear hood quarter columns. Breakarch top to long trunk door, radii moulded canted corners to trunk, simple moulding to base.
DIAL DETAILS
12" engraved and silvered brass dial with John Baker Chippenham engraved to "rainbow" over arch top. Moonphases to arch ( the moon disc having early "starry sky" background ), subsidiary seconds dial, extravagantly engraved large date lunette with finely engraved dial centre. Finely engraved flowerhead corner spandrels. Blued, cut steel hands.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality 8 day movement with 4 knopped pillars and hourly ( rack ) striking.

John Baker of Chippenham is recorded simply - "late 18C".
