CASE DETAILS
Exceptional late 18C long door flame mahogany case with brass eagle/ball centred swan neck pediment, having dentil mouldings under,.Hand carved 'flower head' paterae, fluted hood columns with matching trunk quarter columns, the fluting repeated in the canted corners to the base.
Ogee throat moulding with dentils above and Chippendale influenced blind fret under.Shaped top to long trunk door.Raised base panel.Ogee bracket feet.Very good cabinetwork, very good colour.Exceptional.
DIAL DETAILS
13" breakarch brass dial with moonphases and universal tidal indicator to arch with John Grindall Dumfries engraved to 'rainbow' at top of arch.Cast brass rococo spandrels, exquisitely engraved and silvered dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial and square date box.
Silvered chapter and date rings.Blued cut steel hands.date box.A rare and desirable feature.Blued cut steel hands.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Very well executed 4 knopped pillar movement having hourly ( rack ) striking and deadbeat escapement.Runs happily and sweetly on a pair of half sized brass bound weights. Pull hour repeat.Wood rod pendulum.
