Very good, flame mahogany, long door case with eagle/ball centred swan neck pediment, brass Corinthian capitals to fluted hood columns, boxwood stringing to hood, trunk door and basepanel,
DIAL DETAILS
12" breakarch "Wilson" painted dial having moonphases to arch, subsidiary seconds dial, "sad mouth" date aperture, Arabic chapters and delicately flower painted corner spandrels with gilt raised gesso borders.Blued cut steel "lozenge" hands. N.B. James Wilson dialmaker worked at 11, Charles Street, Birmingham and died 3rd April 1809.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality 4 pillar 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.
MAKER DETAILS
Wm. ( William ) Bullock of Bath recorded "1791 - 1809 at 19 Claverton St." In 1826 he his listed at 26, Claverton St. and in 1830 at number 27. He remained at this address until 1846 when he died. Note: house numbers were frequently changed at this time so it may have been the same property.
