Pale, flame mahogany case with breakarch top, Corinthian capped "flying" fluted hood columns with matching trunk quarter columns.Ogee throat moulding, shaped top to long trunk door, blind fret canted corners to panelled base, all set on ogee bracket feet.
DIAL DETAILS
13" breakarch silvered and engraved brass dial with moonphases to arch, delicately engraved rococo corner spandrels, brass centre sweep date indicator, subsidiary seconds dial, blued, cut steel hands, signed to "rainbow" in arch " - "John Luckman Church Bickenhill". N.B. Interesting and rare sector showing days of the week and relevant deities.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality 8 day movement with 4 knopped pillars, geared moon drive, good quality wheelwork and having hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.
MAKER DETAILS
John Luckman is recorded - "born 1732 married 1762, died 1798". N.B. There is a John Luckman of Bickenhill dial illustrated in "Clockmakers and Watchmakers of Central England" by Joseph Mc. Kenna ( though not as good as this one ).
