CASE DETAILS
Classic "Belfast" late 18C, high quality, long door, mahogany case with original hand carved centre cresting, hand carved "rose" paterae, dentil returns under swan neck pediment, reeded hood columns and matching trunk quarter columns.
Shaped top to trunk door, canted corners to base all set on shallow bracket feet. Absolutely typical of the late 18C Belfast and Whitehaven style. Excellent rich, warm, colour and patination.
DIAL DETAILS
13" breakarch early "Wilson" painted dial with moonphases to arch, colourful exotic birds to dial centre and well executed flower painting to raised gesso bordered corner spandrels. Roman main numerals with Arabic outers every 5 minutes. Subsidiary seconds dial and "sad mouth" date aperture.Blued, cut steel hands.
MOVEMENT DETAILS
Good quality 4 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.Typical "smooth" winding barrels.
