Case A good, SMALL, well proportioned, long door, oak case with urn finial centred swan neck pediment and "Bamboo" effect "floating" hood columns. Breakarch top to trunk door. Simple shaped strip plinth base.
Dial 12" breakarch very early "Wilson" painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial and square cut date aperture ( later ones have curved ends ). Early style raised gesso scrolls flanking flower painting to arch and to dial corners. Black painted cut steel hands.
Movement Good quality, 4 pillar, 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.
Maker William Unwin of Newark is recorded 1780 - 1805.
Date Circa 1780.
