Case This is an exceptional, long door, quarter sawn oak case of very good proportions featuring many high quality "extras" i.e. mahogany crossbanding to hood door, trunk door, ( scalloped ) base panel, hand carved paterae to the swan neck pediment, pierced fretwork under the swan neck continuing to both sides, brass capped, fluted hood columns, with matching trunk quarter columns, on "brickwork" bases, pierced fretwork throat moulding continuing to both sides all set on ogee bracket feet the whole surmounted with 3 brass eagle/ball finials. Good colour, patination and tonal variations. Exceptional proportions, quality and craftsmanship.
Dial 12" breakarch brass dial with scalloped and burnished decoration to moonphase arch, subsidiary seconds and date dials, finely engraved and silvered dial centre,C scroll rococo spandrels and high quality coloured moon "humps". Superbly painted moonphase disc. Blued cut steel hands.
Movement Good quality, 8 day, 4 pillar, weight driven movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell. Pull hour repeat.
