Case | A good, long door, quarter sawn oak case with triple eagle/ball mounted pierced and fretted crest, shaped back splats to hood, "flying" fluted hood columns, matching trunk quarter columns, canted corners to base and ogee bracket feet.Stylistically very typical of the region and period. | |
Dial | 14" square early painted dial with "axehead" moon below 12 "clock position, Arabic "minutes numbered" to outer Roman chapters. Subsidiary date dial.Raised gilt gesso borders enclosing strawberry painted upper spandrels and dog rose lower.Blued cut steel hands. | |
Movement | Good quality 4 knopped pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell. | |
