Case Typical high quality West Midlands long door, blind fret, swan neck pediment, quarter sawn, oak case with good 'golden feather' medullary rays, mahogany crossbanding and details plus 6 point parquetry star to panelled base .The fluted hood columns with brass capitals and feet matching the trunk quarter columns.All raised on shallow bracket feet. Note the ebonised wedge shaped "keystones" to the breakarch inlay to the top of the trunk door and compare to LCOAK 213 by John Adams of Cakemore ( subsumed by Halesowen ) in Archive Section pre 2003, clearly by the very same casemaker, Franche and Halesowen being local to one another.
Dial 12" breakarch early 'Wilson' painted dial having raised gilt gesso corner spandrels enclosing strawberry lower spandrels and carnation decorated upper ones. The arch with raised gilt gesso flanked flower painting dominated by a single pink rose. Subsidiary seconds dial, 'sad mouth' date aperture and 'minutes numbered' to outer chapters. Blued, cut steel hands.
