Title LCMISC 110
Case Long door, stained pine case with spire/ball centred swan neck pediment, having Greek key pattern below, brass Corinthian capitals to fluted hood columns, the fluting being repeated in the trunk canted corners. The long trunk door with shaped top repeated in the applied base panel. All set on shaped plinth.
Dial 12" breakarch brass dial with engraved and silvered eagle with legend "Tempus Fugit" to boss in arch, rococo spandrels, finely engraved and silvered dial centre, subsidiary seconds dial, large date lunette and blued cut steel hands.
Movement Good quality, 8 day, 4 knopped pillar movement with anchor escapement and hourly ( rack ) striking.
Maker David Thomas of Llantrisaint - also spelt Llantrisant recorded simply "18C".
Date Late 18C.
Height 86.5" ( 220 cms. ) or 85.5" ( 217 cms. ) ex. finial.
